KEYBOARD GRADE 7

What’s Involved?

Up To 90 Marks For
You are required to play THREE pieces (each one attracts 30 marks)You can elect to play:

  • all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus
  • OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (*please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone)
  • OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance)
Up To 10 Marks For
MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE OR PLAYING A PIECE FROM MEMORY (either of these elements qualifies for 10 marks)

MUSICAL KNOWLEDGE
You will be asked to explain any symbol, musical term or sign and to answer questions related to the notation that occurs in any of your chosen exam pieces (maximum of eight questions)

OR instead PLAYING A PIECE FROM MEMORY
You can play one of your chosen listed or ‘own choice’ pieces from memory

Use Of Keyboard
You need to use four of the listed functions/features of your keyboard

  1. Play all pieces with an appropriate style
  2. Use of synchro start
  3. Contrasting and varied lead voices both within and between pieces
  4. Use of registration memories if fitted
  5. The use of intro/outro on one piece
  6. Use of a pedal to control keyboard functions

LEFT HAND
Chord changing / C sharp augmented / minor sevenths
