Singing

Thanks to blockbuster TV shows such as ‘X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ there is no shortage these days of folks lining up to find the ‘performer within’…NME’s SINGING syllabus is an accessible means of gauging your vocal skills and ability. Our core content deliberately features a variety of hits from major musicals such as ‘Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Westside Story’ and ‘Miss Saigon’ – with melodies and lyrics you are bound to recognise and appreciate. We also include evocative songs penned and performed by the likes of Eva Cassidy.

We hope you discover something that really appeals.

Each exam requires you to sing four pieces from memory.

We recommend songs are sung in an appropriate key and, based on our years and years of experience in music education, we think you will benefit if you select pieces of differing style and tempo.

By all means think about introducing a personal, favourite piece – but check first that it meets our criteria. You will find all details for ‘Own Choice’ listed in the relevant zone of our website.
