FLUTE GRADE 4	What’s Involved?
Up To 75 Marks For	You are required to play THREE pieces. At least two to be played with an accompaniment, either piano or CD – all books in the core syllabus come with CD backing tracks (each one attracts 25 marks) You can elect to play: all three pieces from those listed within our syllabus OR you can opt for three pieces of your own choice (please find guidance in ‘Own Choice’ Zone) OR you can mix repertoire featuring in our syllabus list combined with pieces of your own choice* (*again please visit ‘Own Choice’ Zone for guidance)
Up To 15 Marks For	TECHNICAL EXERCISE Play either ESKIMO and ELF (pages 6 & 7) or CARRIAGE CLOCK and CREAM CAKE (pages 13 & 16) or CHARIOTS and CARAMEL CAPRICE (pages 15 & 14) from Improve your Scales Grade 4-5 (Flute) 0571-51467-7
Up To 10 Marks For	MUSICAL UNDERSTANDING Answer questions on any of the performed solos relating to pitch names of notes, note values (crotchet, minim etc.), clef, stave and bar lines, time signature and musical terms and signs (maximum five questions)
Playing Skills Guide For This Grade	Six-eight time / swung quavers / semiquavers / new key of E♭ major and C minor / change of key signature / accidentals / acciaccaturas / triplets / playing with an accompaniment
